Experiments on the effect of dose on drug action

Summary

The purpose of this experiment was to observe the differences in the effects of different doses of sodium pentobarbital on mice. After the administration of the drug, the activity of the mice was observed and compared with the disappearance and recovery time of the turning reflex, so as to calculate the maintenance time of the drug effect.

Principle

In pharmacology experiments, there are many factors affecting the experimental results, some of which can be controlled, and some of which are difficult to control. In order to reduce the influence of multi-factors and difficult-to-control factors, a control group should be set up at the same time in the experiments, and comparisons between the control group and the experimental group should be made to eliminate the influence of various extraneous factors, so that the experimental results can be minimized as much as possible, and to achieve the purpose of correctly evaluating the effect of the drug.

I. Take three mice, numbered 1. 2. 3, weighed and observed for normal activity. Then:

Mouse No. 1 was injected intraperitoneally (i.p) with 0.2% pentobarbital sodium solution (0.1 ml/10 g)

Rat No. 2 i.p 0.4% sodium pentobarbital (0.1 ml/10 g)

Mouse No. 3 i.p 0.8% sodium pentobarbital (0.1 ml/10 g), after administration of the drug, the mice were observed and compared for activity, the

ii.p the disappearance and recovery time of the turn-over positive reflex, so as to calculate the maintenance time of drug action.
